That's light pollution.

And so goes my excellent sci-fi/grungey-neon superhero/ action thingy film.

You should full view.

This is for the third round of Fashion Fever, where we were assigned a 60-second clip of music, had to come up with a vague movie scenerio surrounding it, and design a costume for it. Which seemed to make a lot of people nervous, but I LOVE this challenge. I mean, this is how I /think/. Music movie costumes. All in one. That's what my brain does.

So my clip was this: [link]
Which was really right up my ally as well because I'm heavily into Watchmen right now. Not that the song reminded me directly of the book/movie at all, but some anti-hero, big city, post-apocolyptic, yet glossy all at once. I had this girl in my head. Dominatrix vigillante. Love/hate romances. Tokyo underground clubs. R rated, most likely. Kinda like 1 part Matrix, one part Tim Burton's Batman Returns, one part Fight Club and one part V for Vendetta [Or, like, all my favorite movies...=/ ].
And so I just went with it.

I was at first going to do this as I always do-two super stiff models-front and back, side to side-standing in the void of this great white nothing piece of paper.
But, I don't think the judges like that or something. I dunno. They haven't posted any critiques yet, which gets rather fustrating. But mostly, I just wanted to do something to set myself apart, ya know? So I thought, hey, I have this whole thing in my head. Why don't I draw it like some conceptual storyboard, comic book thing? And myself was all like "DUDE that genius!"

In terms of costume design, the most important panels are the two on the side, of the whole outfit.

The outfit is:
White leather motorcycle-jacket-of-the-future. It's got this super large, asymetrical bowl collar, that clasps together with a big metal rectangular snap. Only on side has an actual sleeve. The lines represent textured areas-ribbed? I think is the right term. Although it got cut off, I intended for the jacket to be lined with red-maybe satin or flannel, depending on the climate.
Underneath this are charcoal denium pants. They come up to the hips, and are slashed open and re-edged along either side, leaving neat little thread loops down her legs, held in place by dozens of little metal rivets.
On top, we have this exagerated and ruffled scarf top thing. Basically it's pieces of bunched up white/pink/red/orange organza, all scrunched together in some flower arrangment thing. Some ruffles are actually shaped into large flowers-these use just plain fabric, but alot is just ruffles-these use a white fabric with a little pink and red flower print.
There's a detail panel of this in the middle.
The overall shape is something like this [link] coming down in front to hide all that's nessecary. But, as you can see, much much bigger.
Underneath that, as seen in the middle panels, torso sketch, is a black PVC bra top and copper collar necklace & chain necklace.
This is all worn with patent leather boots and patent leather gloves. And I mask, as I felt compelled and it fit the mood.

The top and bottom panels were just filler to get a sense of what's going on in this lame fest, plotless movie-her riding her shiney black motorcycle on the highway, erotic perfume billboard. And the tense romance scenes with her and sid-vicious haired lover boy [who I hate. I couldn't draw him not stiff to save my poor sad life.]

So, uh, there you are. Hope you enjoy this new and excieting layout.

Geez, the storyboarding was a great idea! It fits in perfectly with the idea that its a costume for a movie. I really love the ribbing showing on the jacket too.
Although, I don't know if I'd feel safe riding a motorcycle with all that organza on my back XD

Thanks. =D I wasn't so sure about organza for the top either, but I figure practicality doesn't exactly matter for movie purposes, haha.

Ha ha, You comments sound exactly like how my friend would describe something.
:iconaesyria:
hm. I might have made the boots skintight, but other than that, your design fits really well with your music. Very nice presentation!
:iconf0xr0x:
Thanks. I did the boots large to balance out the jacket, but if this were a real movie, tighter ones probably would've been more apropriate. =]

Yeah.
His writing always amuses me so much.
Well, he does in general.
It's really quirky and animated.
Very good thing.
